Will This Fit Your Machine?
You need 12 to 25 GPM of auxiliary hydraulic flow, plus a Universal Skid Steer (SSL) plate. GPM means gallons per minute — how much hydraulic fluid your machine can push. Most standard-flow machines handle this without trouble.
No case drain needed. A case drain is an extra oil line some spinning motors need. This grapple opens and closes using cylinders, not a motor, so there is nothing that needs one.
Check your machine
- Bobcat T740 — makes 23 GPM standard. Fits.
- Kubota SVL75-3 — standard flow. Fits.
- CAT 259D3 — standard flow. Fits.
On a high-flow machine? Extra flow just closes the jaws faster — it will not damage a cylinder the way too much flow damages a motor. Run it in standard mode if you want finer control.
Checking Your Flow, And What Too Little Feels Like
Find your machine's GPM on a decal near the auxiliary couplers on the lift arm, or in the operator's manual. Under 12 GPM, the jaws close slowly and the grip is weak — enough to lose a log mid-lift on a slope, not just work slower.
One more thing worth checking: jaw opening is usually a bit less than the grapple's overall frame width. If what you clear regularly runs close to 72 in across, ask us for the actual jaw-open measurement before you order.
Size it to your machine, not to the job
This grapple weighs about 1,100 lb. That weight comes off your lifting capacity before you grab anything:
- Bobcat T740 — 3,200 lb ROC (rated operating capacity, the safe weight limit) minus 1,100 lb grapple = 2,100 lb of material you can actually carry.
- Kubota SVL75-3 — 2,490 lb ROC minus 1,100 lb grapple = 1,390 lb of material.
A grapple too wide for your machine is worse than one too small. It hangs further out in front, which shifts your machine's balance point and costs you more lifting capacity than the extra weight alone would suggest.
Do not buy this one if
- You mostly move pallets or straight material. Forks are cheaper and faster for that.
- Your machine's ROC is under 2,000 lb. You would lift the grapple and very little else.
- You want to sift soil out of debris. A root grapple grabs and holds. A skeleton bucket (one with gaps) screens soil out. Different jobs.
