Clearing is where the wrong attachment costs the most — either you buy a mulcher your machine cannot turn, or you buy a brush cutter and find out it stalls in anything over 3 inches.

Here is the honest split: under 3in material, a brush cutter is the right tool and far cheaper. Over that you need a mulcher, and a mulcher needs 30–45 GPM that most machines simply do not have.

Mulching contractors bill $2,500–4,500 a day. If you are billing days, the maths works. If you are clearing your own land twice a year, renting is the honest answer and we will tell you so before you spend the money.
