Will this fit your machine?

You need 10 to 25 GPM. GPM means gallons per minute — how much hydraulic fluid your machine can push out. Standard flow is enough for this backhoe. It moves using hydraulic cylinders, not a spinning motor. That means it doesn't ask much of your machine's hydraulics.

Case drain: not needed. A case drain is an extra hydraulic line some attachments use to send leaked fluid back to the tank. This one runs on cylinders only, so it skips that step.

The thing nobody tells you until it shows up

You run this backhoe from a seat on the attachment itself — not from inside your loader's cab. You drive the loader into position. You climb down. You climb up onto the backhoe. You dig from a seat mounted right on it.

• You sit outside, in whatever weather you're working in.
• To move to a new spot, you climb down, get back in the loader, move it, then climb back on the backhoe. It will always be slower than a real backhoe.
• Some models offer controls you can run from inside the loader cab, for extra money. Ask us before you order if that matters to you. It's the thing people wish they'd asked about most.

We'd rather tell you this now than have you find out when it's already on the delivery truck.

Set the stabilizer legs before you dig

Like almost every skid steer backhoe attachment, this one has its own stabilizer legs — pads that drop down and plant into the ground once you're attached and in position. They do the same job outriggers do on a full-size excavator: they take the digging load off your loader's tires or tracks so the machine doesn't rock, slide, or lift while you're digging.

Plant them every time, not just on soft ground. Dig with the stabilizers up and the load goes straight into your loader's suspension and tires instead. That's how a loader ends up rocking forward or losing traction mid-dig, usually on uneven ground or when you're pulling a full bucket up out of a deep hole.

What happens if you push past 9 feet

Nine feet is the real limit, not a rounded-down number. Push the bucket past it and you're not digging deeper — you're changing the leverage. The boom is at its longest, weakest angle, and the stabilizer legs are carrying more load than they're rated for. That's when a loader starts to rock or lift at the front instead of the bucket doing the work. Need to go deeper than that regularly? That's a mini excavator's job, not a longer reach on this one.

What it's actually good for

Utility trenches, footings, stumps, drainage — any dig where paying for half a day of a mini excavator doesn't make sense. If you already own the loader, this turns it into a second machine for a fraction of the price of buying a second machine.

Don't buy this one if

• You dig every day. Buy or rent a mini excavator instead. Climbing on and off will cost you more time than a real excavator costs in payments.
• You need to dig deeper than 9 feet. That's the true limit of this attachment. Deeper means a different machine, not a bigger attachment.
• Your loader has no auxiliary hydraulics. These are the extra hydraulic hookups on your loader arm. Without them, nothing here will run.

A liftgate lowers a delivery to the ground for you — this one is too heavy for that. You'll need a loading dock, a forklift, or your loader ready at the curb when the truck shows up.
